Knowing what you love is important as you work in this craft. The wooly fun club block for July–remember the entire mini-quilt was about learning and exploring different things–was an abstract sort of red/blue/gold image. And I know me. I knew I would really wish I went with something more traditional. So I designed this block instead. I wanted lots of stitches on it and those stripes gave me plenty of space to practice new stitches. From the top: Closed button-hole, wheat ear, double pekinese, sheaf, palestrina, and stepped cable chain stitch.
My favorite part is the tiny vintage cream buttons. They remind me of doll clothes from my childhood.
