40 bajillion. That is how many french knots there are on the tree. LOL! I started with the tree because of how I planned to mark the edges. You can follow this plan or begin with the houses as usual.

The shape of the tree is included on the freezer paper. Use the placement guide to line it up, and iron it down.

Then using a light blue sewing thread, loosely baste around the shape so you will know where the french knots are to end.

Embroider the branches in place according to the placement guide. Outer branches are whipped backstitch.  Inner branches are whipped chain all the way down trunk to the bottom.

Begin with the darker pink, add french knots randomly with some gaps between. A few of the dark french knots are next to one another. Try not to cover up the branches.

Fill in with the light pink. I left a gap near the edge of the lavender house so I could stitch around that roof before I came back at the end and filled in the rest of the space.

And this is where I ran out of light hanks of thread and had to order more. But I accidentally ordered the wrong color. So then I waited another month for the right color to come in–i finished the rest of the houses while I was waiting.

Next up: The peach house AKA Rose Cottage.
