Hi, I’m Rachel, and I’ll be your guide today as we dive into the art of stitching using the Live Happy set, available on Threadsandmore.com
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter, this tutorial will help you master the backstitching technique, focusing on the letter “L.”
Note: What I will do would be teaching you stitching techniques, and would focus on a single letter subject in this case it would be letter L.
First, gather your materials. I’m using a needle and thread from the wool thread set, which is also available in the store. You might notice something different, though—while the finished product uses a Canopy green thread for the letter “L,” I’ll demonstrate with a contrasting pink thread. Why? It makes it easier for you to see the stitches as we go. If you prefer sticking to the pattern, I highly recommend using the Canopy green thread for a cohesive look.
Step-by-Step Guide to Backstitching the Letter “L”
- Take a look at the guide I’ve sketched. You’ll notice arrows that direct the stitching path.
- Begin at Point 2, inserting the needle from above and pulling it through to Point 1 below.
- Next, go from Point 3 below back up to Point 2 above
- Then, bring the needle down to Point 4 from above and continue this cycle.
- Repeat this process until you’ve completed the green section of the letter “L.” Remember to finish your stitch with a secure knot at the back of your fabric to prevent unraveling.

So, look at this guide I drew,
Follow the arrow, wherein I go from number two to number one from above, then to number three from below

Then from number three to number two from above, then to number four from below
Refer below:

Then repeat cycle until done, then knot if from behind.

There we’re finished to the green part of the letter L using Backstitching method.
